About the Journal

Aims and Scope

GeroPsych is a leading international journal that provides an interdisciplinary forum for the rapidly growing field of aging research.

It publishes peer-reviewed and original research that addresses biological, psychological, behavioral, social, and cultural aspects of the aging process. GeroPsych seeks articles that combine theoretical, experimental, and applied perspectives on the diversity, heterogeneity, variability, and plasticity of the aging process and older populations. The journal is committed to research that relies on a rigorous quantitative approach, grounded innovative and validated methodology in established or emerging fields of geropsychology, gerontology, or geriatric psychiatry.

Readership

The journal targets scientists and readers who are interested in applied and basic research on mental, behavioral, social, cultural, and clinical aspects of the aging process and old Age.

We are announcing a special issue on “Posttraumatic manifestations among older adults” to be published in 2021. Yuval Palgi from the University of Haifa, Israel, and Amit Shrira from Bar-Ilan University, Israel, will be the special issue guest editors.

We invite authors to submit original research reports and systematic review articles that advance the field of posttraumatic reactions in old age. Potential topics include but are not limited to the long-term effects of traumatic exposure in early developmental periods, effects of exposure to trauma during old age, cumulative trauma, as well as diagnosis and intervention research.

Authors are welcome to contact the guest editors (amit.shrira(at)biu.ac.il) in advance in order to identify possible topics. Papers will be due for submission by December 1, 2020 and will undergo a full process of peer review. All manuscripts have to be submitted electronically via the online submission system www.editorialmanager.com/geropsych/. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the journal’s author guidelines available in the downloads section below.

Special issue on "COVID-19 pandemic: Implications for older adults' mental health and mental health care"

We are announcing a special issue on "Corona pandemic: Implications for older adults' mental health and mental health care" to be published in 2021. We expect original manuscript submissions that evidence high quality, innovative work on incorporating approaches from geriatric psychiatry, clinical psychology and social gerontology.

We invite authors to submit original research reports, clinical case reports as well as conceptual papers addressing implications of the COVID-19 pandemic for older people's mental health and mental health care, including the further development of the field of geriatric psychiatry and clinical geropsychology in the wake of the pandemic. Original reports using qualitative methodology are also welcome.

We invite authors to submit manuscripts by January 1, 2021 via https://www.editorialmanager.com/geropsych/. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the journal’s author guidelines available in the downloads section below.
